Light Expanded Clay Aggregate - Hydroponic Medium L.E.C.A stands for Light Expanded Clay Aggregate and is made by baking pure natural clay at 1200 degrees Celsius for 3 hours. L.E.C.A is a versatile product, useful for many applications, most notably in the Horticulture industry (as a planting medium) and the building industries (as an insulators). L.E.C.A has the following uses :-
L.E.C.A as a Hydroponic Medium Due to the neutral nature (no acid or base/alkaline qualities) of L.E.C.A, along with other properties it is perfect for growing plants, especially indoor plants. L.E.C.A provides an ideal balance of moisture, food and air to your plants. Capillary action on the surface of the lightweight pebbles allows nutrient solution to be carried to the plants. Root rot is eliminated due to the space between the pebbles allowing all-important oxygen to get to the roots.
As an Insulator L.E.C.A has a low thermal conductivity coefficient, giving it the properties of heat insulation. L.E.C.A is also used to make #50-#150 aggregative concrete, a product useful for construction. These properties make L.E.C.A suitable for several uses, including:
Light expanded clay aggregrate is supplied by the Hydroponic Warehouse. This product is not featured in our online catalogue, so if you are interested in purchasing it, please take the time to contact us.
